The best hour for Charles Bridge

By ten in the morning Charles Bridge is a slow river of people, painters and musicians. That’s part of its life, but it isn’t the only way to see it.

Come at sunrise and you’ll share the bridge with a few photographers and the street sweepers. The light comes up the river behind the Old Town Bridge Tower, and the castle on its hill turns pink, then gold.

The second-best hour is late in the evening, when the lamps are lit and the day visitors are at dinner. Our evening walk ends there for a reason.
