Members of the Czech Tourist Club came back from the Paris World’s Fair of 1889 and built their own tower for the Jubilee Exhibition of 1891, about a fifth of the Eiffel Tower’s height. Because it stands on a hill, its top is higher above the sea than the Paris original’s.

Walk up through the orchards of Petřín or take the funicular, then climb the 299 steps. On a clear day you see far beyond the city.
