Two generations of the Dientzenhofer family, father Christoph and son Kilian Ignaz, built the church for the Jesuits over half a century. Its dome and bell tower are the landmarks of the Lesser Town, and the ceiling fresco of the nave is one of the largest in Europe.
Mozart played the organ here in 1787, and after his death a requiem mass for him filled the church. In summer evenings there are concerts under the dome.
